Hello World
If you’re reading this, welcome. This is the first post on my blog, and like every good first program, it starts with a hello.
Who am I?
I’m Eren — a software engineer based in Ankara, Turkey. I’ve spent the last 5+ years building backend systems, microservices, and cloud-native platforms, mostly with Go and Python. I’m currently working at GoWit and pursuing a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at Ankara University.
My path here wasn’t exactly linear. I started university studying Petroleum Engineering at METU, taught myself to code on the side, and eventually made the full switch to software. That story deserves its own post.
Why write?
I’ve been consuming technical content for years — blog posts, papers, conference talks. It’s time to contribute back.
Writing forces clarity. When you try to explain something, you quickly find out what you actually understand and what you’ve been hand-waving through. I want that pressure.
What to expect
I’ll be writing about things I work with and think about:
- Backend engineering — Go patterns, system design, performance
- AI and machine learning — insights from my research and coursework
- Career — the unconventional path from petroleum to software
- Tools and workflow — things that make the day-to-day better
No schedule, no pressure. Just writing when there’s something worth sharing.
Thanks for stopping by.
